Waiting on God or is God Waiting? — Minute Daily Devotional
There are many scriptures in the Bible speaking on the topic of “Waiting on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14 states, “Wait for the Lord, Be strong, and let your heart take courage.” Often people use the term “Waiting on the Lord” when they believe in a promise of a great blessing.
When God gave me a vision to start Math Made Easy Tutoring Service in 2011, I was excited but nervous. Previously, I worked with various tutoring agencies with much success. I went on my own in 2012, and nothing happened for a year. I was waiting on God to deliver. I waited for people to call me, but I didn’t receive any calls. It wasn’t until I started ordering business cards, spreading the word at work, and building my company’s online presence that I began to receive calls in 2013. That year, I tutored one client in the Spring. In 2014, I tutored four clients. In 2015, I tutored 12 clients. As a single owner business, this is a great accomplishment. When I started taking action and walking by faith, God opened doors and made my company successful. He was waiting on me to take action.
Often, when people wait, they wait passively. This means they do nothing and expect God to move “in His timing.” Unfortunately, people who wait passively for God’s promise is not operating in faith. James 2:17 states, “Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” This means we must be actively waiting. We need to make preparations in our hearts and in our lives to welcome God’s fulfillment of His promise to us.
