Your Words may be Draining Your Energy — Minute Daily Devotional
Proverbs 18:21 states, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” A person’s well being can be largely determined by the words that come out of his or her mouth. When people say positive things, they generally feel great. When people say negative things, they are often drained.
When I was a teacher in the public school system, I used to complain about being tired all the time. Teaching is a draining profession to begin with, but having little to no energy makes the job impossible. When people asked how I was feeling, I would respond, “tired.” For five years, a little bit of energy and life left my body based on that response. Eventually, I became so tired that I didn’t have enough energy to get out of bed. Even when I entered the software development profession afterwards, I was still tired. That’s despite the profession not requiring as much energy. Eventually, I changed my words. I started speaking positive things. I changed my friends and associated with positive people. I started to enjoy life instead of making excuses as to why I had to suffer. The result is that I now have lots of energy. I enjoy life. And I am making big impacts in other people’s lives. Changing my words helped improved my lifestyle. Always remember this, when you speak positive words, your body will be energized.
